Biffi Pastry Shop

1904

Biffi 1904: this is right the year when the great-great-grandfather Cesare Biffi opened his historical restaurant in Sorico (CO) and began to specialize in the creation and production of bakeries and sweets. So, it started to be known throughout the upper lake and the entire Lombardy region, to such an extent that some very important guests began considering the restaurant as a reference for a tasty gastronomic stop.

This is how the Biffi family’s tradition developed from the restaurant: the confectionery products immediately became specialties thanks above all to the famous “Cesare’s wedding cakes”.
Cesare had thus laid the foundations of a glorious and consolidated artisan experience.

1930-1990

We’ve came straight to the year 1930: Luigi Biffi, after a long apprenticeship begun at the age of 12, took over the reins of the Biffi restaurant, and moreover, with his wife, opened a grocery store and continued the production of sweets.

Following the course of time, we come to my grandfather Cesare. Within the 70s, given the increasing demand for sweets, in addition to running the restaurant, he decided to open a pastry shop, which is as of today the oldest still in business on the upper Lario.

But it’s thanks to my father Antonio, the king of pastry and leavened products, who in the 80s and 90s, moving his pastry laboratory to Colico (LC), opened three pastry shops and began supplying many bars in the area with his buttery and fragrant croissants. He learned the art of leavened products from the great master Iginio Massari and specializes in the production of Panettone.
He’s been the first in the Biffi family to introduce this magnificent product and to study it so diligently that it raised the borders of perfection.

The Patisserie today

And today, together with the master pastry chef Antonio, we come to the fifth generation of the Biffi’s family pastry shop, which with either the acclaimed authenticity of the products used, and the professional reliability, the commitment and a suggestive creativity, has become an anchor, such as to confirm itself as an excellence in the world of confectionery craftsmanship, a real emblem of quality.
